“Simplicity, patience, compassion.
These three are your greatest treasures.
Simple in actions and thoughts,
you return to the source of being.
Patient with both friends and enemies,
you accord with the way things are.
Compassionate toward yourself,
you reconcile all beings in the world.”

~Lao Tzu
(Tao Te Ching)

“Trying to understand is like
straining through muddy water.
Have the patience to wait!
Be still and allow the mud to settle.”

(Tao Te Ching)

This is a good analogy and great advice:

"Have the patience to wait! Be still and allow the mud to settle.”

I have seen that painting, and wondered why the servant boy had brought a ewer, but no glasses.
