Loving Nature Naturally: 061118

Clothing
is but a mask of civilization
that we are trying to escape
by going to nature in the first place.

Loving Nature Naturally: 060118

"What a singular fact for an angel visitant to this earth to carry back in his note-book, that men were forbidden to expose their bodies under the severest penalties!"

~Henry David Thoreau

Loving Nature Naturally: 052518

"Human beings to me are
as much a part of nature as trees or birds,
and the unclothed body expresses
this belongingness directly and powerfully."

Daily Dose of Naturism: 011818

Nakedness is very common in the tribe. It is not a shameful thing; it is an expression of one’s relationship with the spirit of nature. To be naked is to be open-hearted. Normally kids stay naked until puberty and even beyond. It was only with the introduction of cheap cloth from the West, through Goodwill and other Christian organisations, that nakedness began to be associated with shame.

We are so narrow minded that we show war, murder, and rape on TV, but we are not allowed to show one of the most wonderful creations (the human body) in its natural form.

Daily Dose of Naturism: 011518

We have come into the world naked,
and all the animals are naked,
why should man hide his body behind clothes?

Daily Dose of Naturism: 011018

Going naked is one of the great freedoms that hippies discovered. Feeling the air and water on your exposed skin is both thrilling and invigorating. Puritan values and modesty be damned! Hippies weren't about to compromise. Nude beaches, nude sunbathing and swimming, nudist colonies, all proliferated thanks to hippies. Nudism puts us closer to nature. It erases our sexual hang-ups and fears, by dissolving the psychological link between nakedness and sex, thus letting us relax and enjoy the beauty of the human body.

Naturist Dance: 010518

The Dancing Faun, (1919) André Kertész

~*~

"Nakedness means freedom, and although dancing on a sun-kissed hillside with shorts on seems pretty similar to dancing with shorts off, there is all the difference in the world. It is as if your clothes take on the weight of your worries and concerns – they come to embody your defenses against the world, and if you can feel confident enough and safe enough, then taking them off evokes a powerful sense of liberation, of joy and freedom; and more than that – of innocence and of openness to the world."

~Philip Carr-Gomm, The Druid Way

Naturism offers a way of being
that dares to suggest
that who we are
without any additions or covering up
is all we need to be.

Glory of Naturism: 010318

Your clothes conceal much of your beauty,
yet they hide not the unbeautiful.
And though you seek in garments the freedom of privacy
you may find in them a harness and a chain.
Would that you could meet the sun and the wind
with more of your skin and less of your raiment,
For the breath of life is in the sunlight
and the hand of life is in the wind.

Some of you say,
"It is the north wind who has woven the clothes to wear."
But shame was his loom,
and the softening of the sinews was his thread.
And when his work was done he laughed in the forest.

Forget not that modesty is for a shield
against the eye of the unclean.
And when the unclean shall be no more,
what were modesty but a fetter and a fouling of the mind?
And forget not that the earth delights
to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.

Kahlil Gibran
