Radio KAOM: "Change the World" by Colby Jeffers and AWU

 The world needs you.

Colby Jeffers and AWU
CHANGE THE WORLD
(Official Music Video)

Lyrics:

[Awu]
I can, you can, yeah
Phoenix to Bamenda, Colby and Awu, Change the World,

[Colby]
Yo I woke up this morning with a dream to change the world,
Just want to bring a smile to every boy and every girl,
Can’t do it by myself, on my own and all alone,
The world needs changing now, so lets all get in the zone,
Every woman, every man, come and join me lend a hand,
It’s time to step it up and lead our children to the promised land,
The golden age of unity, of freedom and equality,
Peace on earth is possible, just need a new mentality,
Open up your heart, and open up your mind,
Open up your spirit, and guess what you will find,
Instead of us vs. them, always focused on the enemy,
You’ll see that your enemy is just like you and me,
The world is one country, and mankind it’s citizens,
Time to come together ya’ll, all seven billion,
Turn war into peace, and hate into love,
Turn your frown into a smile, go give somebody a hug,

[Chorus]
I can, you can, we can change the world (x4)

[Awu]
Open up your hearts and minds, and face reality,
Cuz there is some good within you, called peace and harmony,
So see me as your brother, or your sister,
I’ll move your mountain, and you move my mountain,
Cuz the journey of a thousand miles begins with a step,
African man says one hand can’t tie a broom,
Let’s unite and see the world change from good to best,
And put a smile on the face of mankind as we say,

[Chorus]
I can, you can, we can change the world (x4)

[Colby]
So do unto others, as you’d have done to you,
Cuz changing the world starts with the golden rule,
We gotta celebrate diversity, and show love universally,
Cuz everyone on earth is part of one community,
Black, white, red, tan,
Rich, poor, woman, man,
Atheist, Christian, Muslim, Jew, Baha’I Buddhist, Sikh, or Hindu
What if you were judged for the language that you spoke,
What kind of feelings do you think it would evoke,
To be put down cuz of your race, or face religious persecution,
Time to rid the world of prejudice, and start a revolution,
I’m talking no more hunger ,and no more pain,
No more violence, and no more slaves,
No more hatred, and no more greed,
No more homeless, or broken families,
No more pollution, no more disease,
No more corruption, no more poverty,
No more discrimination, kids need an education,
Gotta give hope to the up and coming generation,
Look towards the future and forget about our sins,
Take a moment to reflect, cuz the power is within,
Sing it Awu!

[Chorus]
I can, you can, we can change the world (x4)

[Awu]
Every black man, and every white man,
We are connected as one,
So take my hand, I will take your hand,
Then the dream will come true, we can all make a change,
One people, one world, yediday, yediday, yediday, yediday, hoohoo, ya
yediday, yediday, yediday, yediday, and so we say,

[Chorus]
I can, you can, we can change the world (x4)

[Colby]
This song goes out to every single member of the human race. Each action you take has an impact on the rest of humanity. So make your life about something positive, and do some good to make a change. The world needs you.

AOM Meditations: 021020

Beach Rocks by Jon Foreman

“What I experience of change
is either the flow of the movement of change
or my resistance to it.”

~Sharon Weil

~*~

“The more I can accept the fact that change is moving all the time, and that the change I am experiencing right now is just the change of this moment and that this moment will change into the next and the next, the less need I will have to clutch in fear.”

~Sharon Weil

“Peace is life. Love is life. No river holds a grudge against a rock in its path. No leaf refuses to blow in the breeze. No plant denies water or sunshine. We, as human beings, have the gift of self-awareness, but this gift quickly turns to self-destruction if we do not learn to use it. We must learn to turn our minds towards the peace and love that we are flowing within at any given moment. This is the key to serenity. This is The Love Mindset.”

Accepting Our Shadow: Alan Watts on Carl Jung

One of my reasons for blogging The Morning Dew is to help inspire others to take a more active role in adding positive energy and Love into the world through helping others. The first step in loving others is to love ourselves first. The more love we have for ourselves, the more love we have to share with others. Today's Meditations relates to this by helping us understand the importance of ACCEPTING ourselves as we are - warts, farts, and all.

I post this to get us thinking outside of our safe comfy boxes. It is not an easy thing for me to accept this view of myself, but something inside me tells me it is true:

All the very best
and all the very worst of humanity
resides within each of us.

Only by accepting our 'shadow or darkness' can we learn to fully accept ourselves and fully integrate ourselves in wholeness. It does not mean we act upon our 'dark' thoughts, feelings, impulses. It means that we accept ourselves warts and all. When we can fully accept our WHOLE self, then we can learn to accept, understand, and be compassionate with ourselves and others. Rather than judging and condemning ourselves and others because of our flaws, we accept them and see them as a natural part of our whole being - parts that have in their own way contributed in positive ways. As stated by Alan Watts in the quote below, "The manure is contributive to the perfume of the rose".

"The Recognition of the fact that behind the social role that you assume; behind all your pretensions to being either a good citizen or a fine scholar or a great scientist or a leading politician or a physician or whatever you happen to be - that behind this facade - there is a certain element of the unreconstructed bum. Not as something to be condemned and wailed over, but as something to be recognized as contributive to one's greatness and to one's positive aspect; in the same way that manure is contributive to the perfume of the rose."

~Alan Watts, discussing the work of Carl Jung

~*~

"We cannot change anything
until we accept it.
Condemnation does not liberate,
it oppresses."

“Only he
who has accepted himself completely
possesses  ‘unprejudiced objectivity,’
that ingredient without which
he will be unable to help others
nor even himself.

~Carl Jung

Let us accept the "manure" within
Understanding its work in bringing forth
The fragrance of the roses within our lives

Change the World for the Better?

Change the World for the Better?

Is it possible to change our world for the better?

The world has certainly been a lot worse in the past than it is today and this proves to me that it is possible for things to get better. For example, civil liberties has expanded and I hope it will continue. I look back at the changes  that have come about just during my 60 trips around the sun. WOW! There have been some MAJOR changes that have made the world a better place for more of us. We still have lots of work to do but we have come along way in a relatively short amount of time. Looking back to where we were in the past and seeing where we are today should inspire and motivate us all to keep pushing forward.

Do you want the world to be a better place for all of us?

I'm sure most of us would say yes to this question. And if yes - quit your whinin', get off your butt, and do something to help make a positive difference in the world. : )

So how do we go about changing the world for the better?

There are probably billions of answers to this question. I'll narrow it down to what I see and you can decide whether you agree with me or not. It's okay if you don't, because each of us sits in a different spot around the Perspective Circle. We need to hear from all sides.

I believe the world can be better if we all Love each other more. I believe we need to make it our responsibility to take care of each other. I believe that is why we are here - to look out for and take care of each other. I firmly believe we are all brother and sisters - in the immortal words of Sister Sledge, "We are Family!"

So how do we Love each other more?

The first step toward a more loving world is for each of us to love ourselves more. This is key. The more you love yourself, the more you are able to love others. As Jesus stated, "Love your neighbor as yourself."

So how do I Love myself more?

That is the question. I don't have an easy answer or quote for this question. It is up to each of us to look within and find that answer for ourselves. The Love is within us. It has been and forever will be. We just have to let go any and all obstacles that block us from connecting to the Love within.

I'll stop here and let you think about these things. I'll continue with this discussion in the coming days, months and years.
