Poi Performing Art: Dima Holmsky (Poi Master)

Mesmerizing Magical Graceful Fluid Motion

Finally someone put some decent music to this performance
It fits pretty well - nice and bouncy

Poi Performing Art:

"Poi refers to both a style of performing art and the equipment used for engaging in poi performance. As a performance art, poi involves swinging tethered weights through a variety of rhythmical and geometric patterns. Poi artists may also sing or dance while swinging their poi. Poi can be made from various materials with different handles, weights, and effects (such as fire).

Poi originated with the Maori people of New Zealand, where it is still practiced today. Poi has also gained a following in many other countries. The expansion of poi culture has led to a significant evolution of the styles practiced, the tools used, and the definition of the word "poi.""(Wikipedia)

Meditations: Kindness and Compassion

 Compassion by John Pitre

~*~

"On the street I saw a naked child, hungry and shivering in the cold. I became angry and said to God, “Why do you permit this? Why don’t you do something?”

For a while God said nothing. That night he replied, quite suddenly, “I certainly did something. I made you.”"

~Anthony de Mello
(The song of the Bird)

~*~

“Attitude is a choice. Happiness is a choice. Optimism is a choice. Kindness is a choice. Giving is a choice. Respect is a choice. Whatever choice you make makes you. Choose wisely... Acts of Kindness: A random act of kindness, no matter how small, can make a tremendous impact on someone else's life... Treat everyone with politeness and kindness, not because they are nice, but because you are."

~Roy T. Bennett
(The Light in the Heart)

~*~

“Do your little bit of good where you are;
it's those little bits of good put together
that overwhelm the world.”

~Desmond Tutu

~*~

“How would your life be different if…You stopped making negative judgmental assumptions about people you encounter? Let today be the day…You look for the good in everyone you meet and respect their journey.”

~Steve Maraboli
(Life, the Truth, and Being Free)

~*~

“Your acts of kindness
are iridescent wings of divine love,
which linger and continue
to uplift others long after your sharing.”

~Rumi

MUSIC: "Blackbird" by Joey Alexander

INCREDIBLE

Amazing someone so young
Can perform so well on the piano
And to be able to just be Jazz
Play Jazz, Compose Jazz
Joey must have been born
With his soul steeped in Jazz
Incredible composer and performer for any age

Remember the Mr. Mister song, Broken Wings, that I posted on Tuesday. In that post, I mentioned that The Beatles also used the line, "take these broken wings and learn to fly" in their song, Blackbird. In this video, Joey Alexander takes The Beatles song and makes it his own by performing his Jazz interpretation of the song.

"I first performed "Blackbird" in 2014 (age 11), but I didn’t have a chance to record it until 2017. When I hear “Blackbird” and especially when I play it, I feel a sense of freedom, hope and thankfulness." - Joey Alexander
