A Final Thought and A Call to Action

Hello, everyone! This is Sarah, Phil's niece, once again. I wanted to make another post for some updates and address a few concerns brought to my attention.

Firstly, I am so overwhelmed by the messages and well wishes I have received in the past twenty-four hours. It is clear my uncle meant a lot to so many and having him a part of your day has been a light in your lives. That makes my heart swell and I am so overjoyed.

Second, I have had several messages requesting that I do not take down the blog. I have no intention of doing so. What my uncle has created is a vast body of work that he obviously labored many hours over. Not only do I want to respect what he has done, but I want to leave it as a reminder for those who found solace in his posts. I want this to continue to be a resource for those who need it -- for my uncle's message of life, joy, and tranquility to remain for all the world to see.

However, I must say that as much as I would love to continue the blog in his honor, I know I would not be able to capture the essence that my uncle worked so hard to cultivate over the years. So this will be the final post of AOM. Of course, if any of his followers were so compelled to pick up where he left off, I am positive Phil would love for his message to continue.

Finally, I have been corresponding with several of you personally. Unfortunately, I will not have access to his computer/passwords for much longer as I will be returning to my new home of Tulsa in the following days. For those who would still like to send messages or continue to correspond with me, I have set up an email just for that purpose: forphilaom@gmail.com

Feel free to contact me at any time. Send me anything. Be it quotes you think he would have liked, a song that reminds you of him, a good movie recommendation. Yes, even pictures of Tom Daly. (It's funny, I wish I had known his preference before. I always need more people to fawn over Armie Hammer with.) More than anything, I want to keep the spirit of AOM alive. And perhaps, a little selfishly, I want to learn more about my uncle: the people he left behind and the lives that he touched. He is my family and you are his. I want to continue to love you as he did in any way that I can.

Again, thank you all so much for being so kind during this time. My family and I are just simply blown away. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

With peace and love forever,

Sarah

The post you might have expected

Hi, everyone. If you can't already guess, I am not your beloved Phil posting on mindfulness. My name is Sarah and I am Phil's niece.

As much as it pains me to write this, I must let his followers know that Phil passed away on February 5th. My family and I have just now begun the process of going through his things. You can imagine our surprise at some of the things we've found on his computer, but mostly, I'm overwhelmed with the love he was shown and the love he gave to those he knew.

I've seen emails from people all over the globe thanking him for his blog. I'm amazed at the impact he had on people he never had the pleasure of meeting beyond the keyboard. Although we didn't speak about this aspect of his life, I know it meant a lot to him. I've seen the work he put into the blog and photos and correspondence with his followers.

To be quite honest, this is a strange thing I'm having to do. I never thought I would be writing an obituary on my uncle's blog of meditation, mindfulness, and nude men, however, I loved him. And from what I can see, he loved you all too.

Thank you all for being there for my uncle. He was one of my greatest confidants and I miss him terribly.

He told my mother that if it was his time to go, he was ready; he would be at peace. He said he lived a perfect life.

Thank you for helping make it perfect.

NAME THAT MOVIE GAME

Here is the answer to an earlier question
Pulp Fiction
is a 1994 American neo-noir black comedy crime film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, who conceived it with Roger Avary.[4] Starring John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, Tim Roth, Ving Rhames, and Uma Thurman, it tells several stories of criminal Los Angeles. The title refers to the pulp magazines and hardboiled crime novels popular during the mid-20th century, known for their graphic violence and punchy dialogue.

Here is today's question

From what movie does the following scene come FROM? : )

Divide and conquer!
We must not let that happen here.”

“Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one”

~John Lennon, Imagine

“Love does not cost anything. Kind words and deeds do not cost anything. The real beauty of the world is equal for everyone to see. It was given by God equally to all, without restrictions.

Everyone, was given a beautiful vehicle in which to express love to others. Feelings are free to express and give to ourselves and each other through our willingness to give and care.

What is complicated about this... Why have we made others feel they have to climb mountains and swim oceans in order to make a difference.

All we need to understand my friends, is that human life was given equally to us all, not partially but in totality.

The sun was given to all. It does not shine on the few. So, just has nature is indifferent to our station or situation, we need to know that we are all equal. We need to focus on the things that are constant and not place our values on things that can be blown away with the next, great, wind.

Value life in what ever house it dwells. For when it comes time that we are all stripped to bare bones before the divine and facing eternity, we will understand that the only law we were meant to follow, was to love ourselves and each other. Nothing more...nothing less.”

Namaste Sweetie,

Happy Thor's Day

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh
I feel so much better
Cleaner, More Hopeful, Less Anxious
The Bad Man who held us hostage is gone
And a Kind and Loving Man has come to rescue us
That is how the last four years made me feel
I was so pleased watching the Inauguration
I really enjoyed the evening's performances
I think they should do these every Inauguration

I am still feeling a bit under the weather today
So I've posted a snack pack for you

I hope you will enjoy your visit

I wish you a day of Peace

Joy, Love and Peace,
AOM

Recites Poem At Presidential Inauguration

When day comes we ask ourselves,
where can we find light in this never-ending shade?
The loss we carry,
a sea we must wade
We've braved the belly of the beast
We've learned that quiet isn't always peace
And the norms and notions
of what just is
Isn’t always just-ice
And yet the dawn is ours
before we knew it
Somehow we do it
Somehow we've weathered and witnessed
a nation that isn’t broken
but simply unfinished
We the successors of a country and a time
Where a skinny Black girl
descended from slaves and raised by a single mother
can dream of becoming president
only to find herself reciting for one
And yes we are far from polished
far from pristine
but that doesn’t mean we are
striving to form a union that is perfect
We are striving to forge a union with purpose
To compose a country committed to all cultures, colors, characters and
conditions of man
And so we lift our gazes not to what stands between us
but what stands before us
We close the divide because we know, to put our future first,
we must first put our differences aside
We lay down our arms
so we can reach out our arms
to one another
We seek harm to none and harmony for all
Let the globe, if nothing else, say this is true:
That even as we grieved, we grew
That even as we hurt, we hoped
That even as we tired, we tried
That we’ll forever be tied together, victorious
Not because we will never again know defeat
but because we will never again sow division
Scripture tells us to envision
that everyone shall sit under their own vine and fig tree
And no one shall make them afraid
If we’re to live up to our own time
Then victory won’t lie in the blade
But in all the bridges we’ve made
That is the promise to glade
The hill we climb
If only we dare
It's because being American is more than a pride we inherit,
it’s the past we step into
and how we repair it
We’ve seen a force that would shatter our nation
rather than share it
Would destroy our country if it meant delaying democracy
And this effort very nearly succeeded
But while democracy can be periodically delayed
it can never be permanently defeated
In this truth
in this faith we trust
For while we have our eyes on the future
history has its eyes on us
This is the era of just redemption
We feared at its inception
We did not feel prepared to be the heirs
of such a terrifying hour
but within it we found the power
to author a new chapter
To offer hope and laughter to ourselves
So while once we asked,
how could we possibly prevail over catastrophe?
Now we assert
How could catastrophe possibly prevail over us?
We will not march back to what was
but move to what shall be
A country that is bruised but whole,
benevolent but bold,
fierce and free
We will not be turned around
or interrupted by intimidation
because we know our inaction and inertia
will be the inheritance of the next generation
Our blunders become their burdens
But one thing is certain:
If we merge mercy with might,
and might with right,
then love becomes our legacy
and change our children’s birthright
So let us leave behind a country
better than the one we were left with
Every breath from my bronze-pounded chest,
we will raise this wounded world into a wondrous one
We will rise from the gold-limbed hills of the west,
we will rise from the windswept northeast
where our forefathers first realized revolution
We will rise from the lake-rimmed cities of the midwestern states,
we will rise from the sunbaked south
We will rebuild, reconcile and recover
and every known nook of our nation and
every corner called our country,
our people diverse and beautiful will emerge,
battered and beautiful
When day comes we step out of the shade,
aflame and unafraid
The new dawn blooms as we free it
For there is always light,
if only we’re brave enough to see it
If only we’re brave enough to be it
